What is ‘hosting’ ?

Hosting is a service of placement and storage of customers’ files on the service provider’s (hoster’s) server, It also needs to be clarified that the term "hosting" does not include "server deployment", "design" or "domain registration and maintenance". Another type of service being offered independently is ASP (Application Services Providing), which essentially means rental of the pre-created software modules and/or technologies developed to work in the Internet environment.

Most entry and medium-level websites do not require installation and maintenance of a separate server, which makes the so-called ‘shared server’ (a single hardware server run by hosting provider can maintain up to a hundred shared servers or users) the most effective and popular solution. Hereinafter ‘hosting’ shall refer to virtual hosting, if not otherwise stated.
